Referral code expired: what to do with the posts that still share it

DealPage is a referral code landing page tool that replaces an expired code on your page with the next one, or with a restock sign-up, without editing any post.

If you are a creator and your code just expired

First, check whether the program issued a new code. Many programs rotate codes rather than end them. Second, reply to your own post with the new code or a link where it will always be current, so new readers see it. Third, pin that reply if the post is still getting attention.

You cannot fix copies of your post that others quoted or screenshotted. That is the case for never putting the raw code in a post again.

Making the next one survive expiry

Post a short link to a page instead of the code. When the code expires, update the page, and every post and every copy that links to it shows the new code.

Better still, enter the expiry date in advance along with a backup code, so the switch happens on time without you.

How DealPage handles it

Each code in a Deal has an optional expiry date and quota. At expiry, DealPage stops showing it and shows the next active code in priority order. If there is none, the page shows a restock sign-up so the visitor can leave an email.

Your dashboard marks the Deal as expiring before the date arrives, so you have time to get a fresh code.

Frequently asked

Can an expired referral code be reactivated?
Only by the program that issued it. Check the program's dashboard or support; many issue a new code instead.
How do I stop old posts from showing an expired code?
You cannot edit copies of old posts, but if they link to a page rather than containing the code, updating the page fixes all of them.
Does DealPage warn me before a code expires?
Yes. Deals with codes nearing expiry are marked as expiring in your dashboard.
