How to see which tweet drove sign-ups

DealPage is a referral link tracker that gives each post its own short link and marks the moment you posted on the click curve.

What X analytics can and cannot tell you

Post analytics show impressions, engagements and link clicks for that post. They do not show what happened after the click, and they treat a reply thread, a quote post and the original as separate things you have to add up by hand.

The referral program shows sign-ups credited to your code, but not which post the person saw. The gap between the two is where the answer lives.

Closing the gap

Use a different short link in each post you want to compare. Clicks on each link are then attributable to that post. Lining up the click curve with the times the program reports sign-ups gives you a reasonable picture, even without exact matching.

Be honest about the limit: unless the program reports sign-ups per link, you are matching clicks to sign-ups by timing, not proving a one-to-one link.

In DealPage

Create one short link per post, labelled post or reply. The statistics page shows clicks per link over time, and the brand report marks when the main post went out on the click curve, so a spike right after posting is easy to read.

DealPage does not receive sign-up data from the brand, so it shows clicks. Pair it with the program's dashboard for sign-ups.

Frequently asked

Can I see exactly which tweet produced each sign-up?
Only if the referral program reports sign-ups per link. Otherwise you can see clicks per post and compare them with the program's sign-up timing.
Do I need a different link for every tweet?
For the posts you want to compare, yes. A reply thread and a main post sharing one link cannot be told apart.
Does this work for Telegram and newsletters too?
Yes. DealPage source labels cover post, reply, DM, group and newsletter.
